Comic Strip of Babe The Gallant Pig
Endnote -
While making this comic strip I learned that comics can be arranged in several ways, both horizontally and vertically. There is an array of text bubble choices as well as fonts and arrangement possibilities. Comics are very popular and there are numerous online web.
This genre is intended for a younger audience, but can be enjoyed by an audience of all ages. This genre is a visual representation of a scene from Dick King-Smith's book, Babe The Gallant Pig. This genre just expands upon a scene in the book so that children can see what I picture the scene to look like.
Again, I chose to make a comic strip of a scene in the book, Babe The Gallant Pig. I chose this genre because the scene really stuck out to me as I was reading and I could mentally visualize the scene playing out in a comic setting.
My source for this genre was one of Dick King-Smith's books and the scene I portrayed in the comic came directly from the book. I felt that this was a great stand-alone scene from the chapter book and could be easily translated into a comic format.
I feel like this genre was pretty successful in capturing Dick King-Smith's creative work of Babe The Gallant Pig. However, having to keep the text to a minimum to fit the comic format, some of the humor that King-Smith put into this scene is unfortunately lost when translated into comic form. It loses the internal thoughts of the mother dog while she's deciding what to say to her puppies about the intelligence of pigs. However, I feel the comic adequately introduces the scene in which Babe first comes to the farm and all of the other animals come to inspect the newcomer.
